Award Winners Bridget Carpenter and Christopher Ashley Bring Freaky Friday to the Stage!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have an out-of-body experience? In the world premiere stage production of Freaky Friday, that’s exactly what happens! Based on the 1972 best-selling children’s novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney Films, which originally premiered in 1976, starring Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris and was remade in 2003 starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, Freaky Friday tells a fantastical tale about a mother and daughter who swap bodies for a day due to an enchanted fortune cookie.
This brilliant Broadway-bound musical was brought to life by Award winner Bridget Carpenter, who penned the book for Disney with fellow Award winner, two-time Tony nominee, Christopher Ashley directing.
Bridget’s recent credits include serving as executive producer and showrunner for Hulu’s award-winning miniseries “11.22.63,” based on the Stephen King best-selling novel and co-executive producing and writing TV hits, “Friday Night Lights” and “Parenthood.” Next up for Christopher – in addition to his role as Artistic Director of La Jolla Playhouse, he will be directing a stage production of The Jimmy Buffet Musical, featuring the songs of the legendary singer-songwriter.
Freaky Friday premieres in Washington DC at the Signature Theatre from October 4 to November 20, 2016 before heading to the La Jolla Playhouse from January 31 to March 12, 2017. Buy tickets here and experience a truly hilarious production!
