Princess Grace Award Winners Promoted at American Ballet Theatre!
In less than a year, Jeffrey Cirio, a 2009 Princess Grace Award winner and former Boston Ballet principal who joined American Ballet Theatre as a soloist at the start of last season—is walking into summer with a promotion to ABT’s highest rank as a principal dancer. On May 16, in a New York Times review of ABT’s performance of “La Fille Mal Gardée”, at the Metropolitan Opera House, it was noted that although the piece was Jeffrey’s first full-length role at the MET, you would never have known it with his ‘easy command of the complex jumps’. Also announced, corps member Blaine Hoven’s promotion to soloist. Blaine, who won his Princess Grace Award in 2008, joined American Ballet Theatre's main Company in 2004. His repertory with the Company includes Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet, Benno in Swan Lake, Ratmansky's Seven Sonatas and more.
American Ballet Theatre is now on tour! Catch Jeffrey and Blaine at the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, Virginia from July 14-16!
