Tony Award Winner Paul Tazewell Garners Emmy Nod for Costume Design!
Keep the awards coming! Fresh off his Tony Award win for Best Costume Design for hit musical Hamilton, Paul Tazewell earned another nod- this time for an Emmy! On Thursday, July 14, Paul picked up a nomination for Outstanding Costumes For A Variety, Nonfiction Or Reality Program for The Wiz Live. The NBC production, which starred Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, and Uzo Aduba, received six nominations, including Outstanding Production Design For A Variety, Nonfiction, Event Or Award Special, Outstanding Hairstyling For A Multi-Camera Series Or Special; Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction For A Variety Special; Outstanding Makeup For A Multi-Camera Series Or Special (Non-Prosthetic); and Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Limited Series, Movie Or Special.
Paul gushed about the news. “"It's always a surprise, a happy surprise for me to be acknowledged for my work and it's really exciting,” he told Broadway World. “This is my first Emmy nomination so that makes it doubly exciting. I'm also so proud of the piece overall, the telecast was one of the most popular that NBC has done and I would have to say that I think creatively and visually, it was one of the most spectacular things that they've done. So it's really a credit to all of us to be acknowledged in that way." Click here to read more!
