THE PRINCESS GRACE FOUNDATION-USA ANNOUNCES THE 2022 PRINCESS GRACE AWARDS APPLICATION FOR ARTISTS WORKING IN THEATER, DANCE AND FILM
DEADLINE TO APPLY: FEBRUARY 15, 2022

New York, NY, January 14, 2022 – The Princess Grace Foundation-USA announces the availability of applications for the 2022 Princess Grace Awards, funding theater, dance and film artists. Founded in memory of Princess Grace [Kelly] of Monaco, the Princess Grace Awards identifies extraordinary emerging artists and nurtures their growth throughout their careers. Princess Grace Award recipients receive an unrestricted cash grant of $10,000 to artists. ͞”Winning the Princess Grace Award in 2001 was a pivotal moment in my filmmaking career,” said, Jon M. Chu (Princess Grace Award, 2001). “Financial support allowed me to make a short film that became my calling card in the industry, and I joined a community of artists across theater, dance and film. In 2022, I was proud to join the Princess Grace Foundation Board of Trustees, deepening my involvement in the Foundation. Each year I look forward to meeting the new class of Princess Grace Award winners that join our community, and I can’t wait to see the extraordinary talent that applies in 2022.”

Eligibility for the Princess Grace Awards
Princess Grace Awards are for emerging artists and recognize both creative generators (including but not limited to theater directors, designers, choreographers, and film directors, etc.), and performance-based creatives (including but not limited to actors and dancers, etc.). A Playwriting Fellowship* is offered through a partnership with New Dramatists. Princess Grace Awards are available via nomination. Eligible nominators include deans/department chairs of non-profit universities, colleges and professional training programs, artistic directors of non-profit theater, dance and film organizations, and previous Princess Grace Award winners.

The nomination is a crucial part of the Princess Grace Awards, and we call upon leaders in our theater, dance and film communities to nominate exciting new talent who will help shape and grow the artistic landscape,” said Brisa Carleton, CEO of the Princess Grace Foundation.

*Playwriting Fellowship: The Princess Grace Foundation is proud to continue its 20-year partnership with New Dramatists, offering a residency at New Dramatists in New York, New York to an emerging playwright through the Playwriting Fellowship. A separate application and process for playwrights is available at New Dramatists and applications are accepted beginning March 2022.
