Gustavo René Sanabria is a Paraguayan-American film director, screenwriter, and producer.

He makes films transcontinentally, imitating the way his memories, dreams, and ideas have traveled.

He holds an MFA in Film & TV from NYU Tisch, and a BA in Film Studies from Wesleyan University. His award-winning films have screened at festivals such as Sundance, SXSW, Slamdance, Champs Élysées FF, Edinburgh IFF among others and have received Academy Award qualifications. He is a 2024 Sony Pictures Classics Marcie Bloom Fellow in Film.

Gustavo is in post-production of his next short film, THE DEBUT, with support from NYU’s Black Family Thesis Prize, and he is in development of his first feature film.
