Hung P. Nguyen is a documentary filmmaker. He was a 2019 filmmaker-in-residence at SFFILM and a 2019 Princess Grace Foundation fellow at The Flaherty Seminar. After graduate film school at LMU, Hung was awarded a Sony Pictures Entertainment Fellowship, and was recognized by the Princess Grace Foundation with the Cary Grant Film Award. He received his BA from UC Berkeley.
His documentary short “Going Home,” chronicles his father’s last day at home before entering a Buddhist monastery. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and played at several major film festivals worldwide. It received prizes at the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films, the Vietnamese International Film Festival, and was nominated for an International Documentary Association award.
He is currently working on his first feature documentary film.
