Annie Ning is a filmmaker from the US and China whose work explores character-driven tensions as individual perspectives clash against shifting cultural landscapes. She holds a BA from Wesleyan University and an MFA in Directing from Columbia, where she has taught screenwriting as an Adjunct Professor. Her short, Man Made Lake, will world premiere in the Orizzonti Shorts Competition at the 83rd Venice Film Festival. Annie was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film in 2024, and a Vimeo Breakout Creator of the Year. She is an inaugural recipient of the Vimeo Short Film Grant by Nikon | RED. Her previous shorts have premiered at Slamdance, Raindance, and Palm Springs International ShortsFest, and exhibited at the Daegu Art Museum. She is developing her debut feature.
