Ava Elizabeth Novak is a live performance and film artist dedicated to creating images that pull together black spiritual epistemology with mundane afro-futurism in the convergence of the now. They believe time is not a line but a closed shape and seek to explore tensions between tradition and generational trauma.
Recent works include:
Lighting: Angelic Architectures (by Samara Sarai, Abrons Arts Center), Transa Rising: Lambkin (Lincoln Center)
Co-Directing: milk thot (created by keiyaA, Abrons Arts Center), Associate Director BOWL EP (writ. directed by Nazareth Hassan, Vineyard Theater , National Black Theatre, The New Group).
They are also the Artistic Production Associate at the National Black Theatre.
