Alec Hammond (Film and Theater Designer) is designed the television pilot Lie To Me, for writer Sam Baum and director Robert Schwenkte. He is pleased to be continuing his collaboration with Schwenkte, for whom he designed the film Flightplan, starring Jodie Foster; creating a next-generation Jumbo Jet from nose to tail.

 

Hammond was the production designer for Ricky Gervais’ (The Office, Original English Version, and Extras) first feature film.Ricky co-directed with co-writer Mathew Robinson This Side of the Truth.During the fall and winter of 2007 Alec continued his collaboration with Richard Kelly on The Box, starring Cameron Diaz, James Marsden, and Frank Langella. This is the third film of Richard’s that he designed; Donnie Darko and Southland Tales came before.

 

Hammond was the Production Designer for Street Kings, the sophomore directorial effort by David Ayer (Harsh Times, Training Day), staring Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker and Hugh Laurie, he designed The Contender for director Rod Lurie, as well as Lurie’s first television pilot Capital City. He also designed the studio films First Daughter for director Forrest Whitaker, and the live action/animated feature Garfield.His television design credits include the series pilot 12 Miles of Bad Road for HBO with Lily Tomlin and Mary Kay Place, and the Wedding Chapel pilot for Fox, motion picture credits as an art director include The Cat in the Hat, Men in Black II, K-Pax, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Lost & Found, and Tinseltown.

 

Prior to, and during, his film career Hammond designed theater and opera sets and costumes. Most recently (Fall ’07) designing the acclaimed production of To Kill a Mockingbird for the Intiman Theater in Seattle.He has been fortunate enough to have designed Scenery and Costumes for the stage directors Bartlett Sher, Joanne Akalaitis, James Bundy, Tazwell Thompson, Fracaswell Hyman, and many others. My designs have been seen at Julliard, Yale Rep, The Intiman, Indiana Rep, Playmakers Rep, Williamstown Theater Festival, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Great Lakes Theater Festival and Off-Broadway.

 

He was awarded the inaugural Princess Grace Faberge Award in 1995, and is a Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Amherst College.Alec received his MFA at the Yale School of Drama where he was the Oenslagger Prize winner.
