Dzan Harba is a writer and film director based in New York, NY. He grew up in New Jersey after his family fled Bosnia during the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990s. He is a thesis student at NYU Tisch’s graduate film program. Prior to that, Dzan graduated with a degree in philosophy from the University of Chicago and was awarded a Fulbright grant to teach English at the University of Prizren in Kosovo. He has directed several short films, including Deus Ex Gym Machina (2021), In Medium Res (2022), and The Fifth Column (2024). His thesis, My Enslaved Heart (2026), received a Dennis Riese Film Production Fund grant and is the recipient of a 2026 National Board of Review Student Grant Award and the 2026 Norman T. Strauss Award.
