Em Yue is a Chinese-American artist and filmmaker from North Carolina. Their work in documentary animation and interactive media explores the intersections of queerness, language and technology through a lens of emotional honesty. After studying photojournalism and studio art at UNC-Chapel Hill, they relocated to Los Angeles where they are currently pursuing an MFA in experimental animation at the CalArts. Their film “Elaine Is Almost” premiered with the Otherly series as a co-production of POV Spark and the National Film Board of Canada. Additional collaborations include stories with the LA Times, NPR Next Generation Radio and the Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project.
