Evan Silver aka Tiresias is a hybrid writer, director, composer, performer and ritualist based in Brooklyn. Recently called “a rara avis of experimental theatre” by The New Yorker and “one of the most enchanting performers in New York City” by The Brooklyn Rail, their original theatre works include cryptochrome (Joe’s Pub, the cell theatre), HYPERFANTASIA (Ars Nova, The Brick), and UNDERWORLD (House of Yes, Ballhaus Berlin). Tiresias has received residencies and grants from MacDowell, the Sitka Center for Art & Ecology, Teravana, The Puffin Foundation, The Mercury Store, the Diverse Intelligences Summer Institute, and The Awesome Foundation, as well as Luce, Marshall, and Fulbright fellowships. They received master’s degrees in classical reception and devised theatre from King’s College, Cambridge and RCSSD, and a bachelor’s in writing for performance from Brown.
