Haisi Hu is an animation artist whose creative journey spans four decades, rooted in traditional techniques such as claymation. Her films have been featured at Animation Nights New York, the Brooklyn Film Festival, and other international venues. She is a recipient of the NYC Women’s Fund, NYFA Fellowship, Jerome Foundation Film Production Grant, and NYSCA Film/Media grants. Her recent project unPlug blends 3D and hand-drawn animation to explore a woman’s struggle in a tech-dominated world. Informed by her experience as an immigrant, Hu’s work addresses themes of poverty, isolation, and resilience, often revealing moments of unexpected beauty and freedom.
