Hamid Dehghani is an Iranian theatre director, playwright, and actor known for his visually rich, emotionally layered work. In Iran, he wrote and directed plays such as From the Environs of Milad and Sohrab’s Transgression, and after relocating to the U.S. in 2018, earned an MFA in Directing from Northwestern University. He is the co-founder of Grass Studio Theatre and has directed acclaimed productions including Baba at Amphibian Stage, Selling Kabul at Northlight Theatre, English at the Goodman and Guthrie Theatres, and the world premiere of The Life You Gave Me by Novid Parsi at BCT. Dehghani’s direction has been praised as “superb,” “riveting,” and “bursting with humanity” by the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Reader, and others.
