Kayla Mak grew up in Rye Brook, New York and is of Japanese, Chinese, and Cuban descent. She trained at Westchester Dance Academy and Ballet Academy East and graduated from The Juilliard School in New York City, earning her BFA in dance under the direction of Alicia Graf Mack and associate director Mario Alberto Zambrano. She was fortunate and grateful to participate in various television shows such as NBC’s World of Dance in 2018 and was awarded the Silver Medal in Modern/ Contemporary at YoungArts in 2021. She joined ABT Studio Company in September 2024, during her senior year at Juilliard, under the artistic direction of Sascha Radetsky. Mak will join the American Ballet Theatre as an apprentice in December 2025.
