MJ Edwards from Middletown, NY, began professional training at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School. MJ furtherhoned their craft with MOVE|NYC|. There, they performed works by choreographers Aszure Barton, Shamel Pitts, Yin Yue, and Gregory Dolbashian. In 2017, MJ went to train at the San Francisco Ballet School and received the 2018-2019 Choreographic Fellowship. They are a distinguished 2019 YoungArts Winner in Modern/Contemporary and proud recipient of the 2019 Meringoff Family Foundation Valedictory Prize. Their journey continued at The Juilliard School, where they worked with celebrated choreographers, including Ohad Naharin, Sonya Tayeh, Amy Hall Garner, and Andrea Miller. MJ also worked as an artistic assistant/performer with FHP Collective, directed by Francesca Harper, and kNoname Artist, directed by Roderick George. In 2021, they joined the Limón Dance Company.
